Cupcakes and Booze

I remember going out to dinner with some new friends many
years ago and one of the girls in the group said she had to
tell us something before we ordered. She had this really
serious look on her face. I thought wow a deep dark secret
on the first girl friend date. She said I just have to let
you know that "I don't share dessert" We all decided that
we could live with that and went on to have a great evening.
The best thing about cupcakes is the fact that it comes in
that tiny little package just for ONE! I have seen people
share cupcakes, but that is another story.
Cupcakes are tiny bites of yummy goodness. There is something
so special about peeling off that baking paper that just
instantly transports you back to childhood. It's fun to watch
people eat cupcakes. Do you know exactly how to eat a CUPCAKE-Oh?
Everyone has ther own style of eating a cupcake. For instance,
Jennifer splits off the bottom and puts the icing in the middle
like a cake, Kayla licks her icing like an ice cream cone,
Natalie and Griff like to eat them all together (icing & cake)
and I unwrap and then split in half and eat icing and cake
together one half at a time.
Unless you have been trappped under a rock for the last several
years you have heard that cupcakes have made a major come back.
They are everywhere. My sister and I have ALWAYS been diehard
cupcake fans. In fact I was probablly like one of those crazy
people that would storm out of the bakery if they didn't have
any cupcakes that day.
(I'm kidding!!!) I have been looking at menus and seeing a strange
trend of flavors for cupcakes lately. There are cupcakes with reeces
pieces, oreos, gummy bears, whoppers and I even found one for top
shelf margarita. "Lets plop some odd ingredient on top and call it
fantastic.....It makes me wonder what they are hiding under
all of that stuff. Why would you want to cover up the classic
taste of a cupcake? It's like going to a bad ice cream shop
with dozens of anything under the sun on it...ick.
I am still very old fashioned when it comes to cupcakes. Sure
I love to try new flavors, but mostly I like the nostalgia of
eating a cupcake. I want to be reminded of my sweet childhood
memories of my Mom popping one in my lunch box, birthday
parties and all that.
What I really want is a classic moist delicious cupcake with
chocolate or vanilla buttercream, sometimes cream filled.
I love sprinkles & non pareils, ganache frosting of course,
mocha-licious, and of course coconut topping - yup.
Carrot cupcakes are yum, lemon sure, but top shelf margarita
(are we even still talking about cupcakes???)
Well, Griff and I were thinking, How far is this cupcake flavor
blending trend going to continue? We joked, why not put little
bottles of booze on top. "is this a marketing ploy
that we should try? There could be a cupcake happy hour,
open mic night and cupcake cocktail parties? But, then we
realized, all you need is a delicious cupcake to make your
day.
I like my cupcakes straight up thank you. No ice for me.
