Home is where my Heart Lives

It has been way too long since I have been able to post. In the midst
of working all the time and cupcake happy hours, Griff and I also
moved into our new digs. We inherited a wonderful new apartment
from 2 of our favorite regulars and with all it's quirkyness, we love it!
It's one block from the park and just minutes from work and historic
Savannah depending on which way you turn.

Up until now we have never lived in a place that captures the heart of
Savannah. Imagine living in a treehouse (or in a 3rd floor walk up) where
life is free and breezy in our spacious apartment that we call home.

We have barely had time to unpack because it seems that every
weekend lately has been jam packed with too much stuff to do.
This weekend we were determined to get it done and we did.

We walked to brunch to one of our favorite spots and then walked
around the park, picked up some icey drinks and headed for home.
Ahhh home sweet home is where my heart is these days. I am in
major decorating mode always with my Domino magazine in tow
and the new Blueprint Magazine from Martha Stewart just arrived
in the mail.

It is fun to to look at magazines and in shops for
inspiration but at the end of the day, I believe that
capturing the true essence of how we want to live is a very
personal journey. A journey that I enjoy sharing with my soul mate.

I have really always been a homebody but these days it seems more
important than ever to create a space that is as cozy as can be.
Griff and I are both very creative and it is so much fun to put our
place together in a way that captures our personal style.

So far I have discovered that light, color, music and of course food
play very important roles in our life. Griff and I have fond memories
of growing up with midcentury furniture and design and have
some fun ideas that will give our place a special twist.

I have been looking for some unusual bedding that incorporates
vintage and modern textiles and I was so excited that one of my
new best friends over in the UK has designed some lovely
bedding for us which I will be happy to share once it clears customs.
I can't wait to see it myself.

I have also come to the realization that I am obsessed with little
details that I think make the world of difference in a personal space
like incorporating the ceiling into the room when choosing paint colors
and designing our space to let the flow of light steam in the big windows.

All in all I guess it is evident now that I am a true newly wed and I want
to create a special place that we both can enjoy.

It will be fun to share the process as it unfolds.
