Simple Abundance

I love the holidays! Holiday baking is always so much fun.
I am usually working so hard this time of year making
sure that everyone that tastes our treats has a magical
experience that I don't have much time to myself.
Griff and I already work long hours but it is just insane
this time of year. Thank goodness we still love what we do.

So now that the holiday baking is behind us, it is time for
our first of the year mini break. I am really looking
forward to resting, recharging and coming up with all
sorts of new ideas for the New Year!

2008 has such a nice ring to it. The bakery will be Five this
year and we are heading into a very exciting time both
professionally & personally.

My idea of the perfect New Year's Eve involves my sweet
husband Griff, my two dogs Sophie & Ella along with some
delicious snick snacks, Mmmm champagne and a pile of
my favorite magazines.

I also came across one of my favorite books that was
a Christmas gift from my sister in 1997 called
Simple Abundance, A Daybook of Comfort and Joy
by Sarah Ban Breathnach. I cannot tell you how
excited I was to find this book. I remember she
bought us each a copy that year after seeing
the author on Oprah. It's a wonderful book and
I am looking forward to starting the year off
with it. It was such an inspiration for us and
has so many special memories for me.

It is a thought provoking, list making &
thanks giving time at the Day residence.

There is just something about that ball dropping
in Times Square that gets me in an I can do
anything kind of mood. So in the next 365 days
I have new goals and new dreams.

Happy New Year Y'all !
May all your dreams come true.

So much to share as we enter 2008

This past year has been a whirl wind. I have had so many
things to blog about and yet no time to write here.
So some of this will be old news for some but I still
feel like I have so much catching up to do and so much
I want to share.

Griff and I had a wonderful trip to California and when we
returned we purchased our very first home.
It is a wonderful little cottage and we are enjoying making
it our haven. We just love it. I treasure my visits to my
friend Liz's shop @home even more now.

The week we moved in I was invited to be a guest on
Paula Deen's cooking show Paula's Home Cooking.
It was such an amazing experience and I am actually
still pinching myself. I am so thankful for the opportunity
to hang out with Paula because she is such an inspiration
for me. She made me feel right at home and took the
time to share so many real life experiences that I will
always have with me.

We bonded over so many things while we cooked in
her beautiful kitchen and she reminded me that I
have a very special gift that I share with others on
a daily basis. She encouraged me to never change
my style of baking home spun desserts and it was so
nice to hear especially from her.

The show is airing in the spring and I will definitely
write more about what happens behind the scenes
leading up to the big day.
