On the road with the Deen Boys

I am sure everyone who knows me will agree that it is time
for something really really good to happen in my life. I am happy
to report that today was one of those really really good thing kind
of days.

The Deen boys filmed part of their new show in the
bakery today and it was so much fun. It is for their upcoming
holiday special and we are just thrilled that they included us.

We made red velvet cupcakes and peppermint marshmallows.
My friend Liz who owns the wonderful vintage general shop called
@home came over and styled the entire shop for the
holidays and it looked exactly as I envisioned.
Thank goodness she stuck around all day to move props for
different scenes because it was dreamy and fabulous! It looked
just like the sugar plum bakery. Haylie & Halli were on wardrobe.

The production crew was so nice and professional which made it
such a fun day for a novice like me but great material for that book
I need to write someday. Although I must say I am pooped.

Here are a few sneak photos. Stay tuned because
the show will air in December just in time for the holidays.

A big thank you to:
Bobbie & Jamie Deen
Gordon Elliot, Sara Porter, Garrett and the crew from Follow Productions

This is so exciting! I love getting to see so much of Savannah on the Food Network these days courtesy of the Lady and Sons, but it's even better when my favorite bakery will be on TV! Thanks for writing this blog, too. I can't get by the bakery as much as I'd like, so it's nice to stay up with what's going on.

Im glad you went to that stylist I told you just in time for all this fabulous publicity =) Not that you need any but it doesnt hurt. I will be in Savannah on Oct. 6th and 7th (from Charleston) and plan on dropping by your bakery.
Would you like me to drop by some Madeleines or Macarons? :)

hello, my message didnt go through :( I just wanted to say thanks for the coffee coz it really helped and is still helping me a lot!!! I was still awake at 12:30am last night and thats why i attempted to write you a note. Anyway, another day and another reason for a new message...thanks for the coffee grinder. It really means so much to me to have something of Natalie's. I still think of her often and there are several days that I get teary-eyed upon entering the bakery when you say "Hi sweetie", coz you often sound just like Natalie. I refrain from being emotionally overwhelmed and just try to smile. As I look at the bakery and the good changes that has occurred, I cant help but smile and think that Natalie is around watching over all of us. Ok, Im going to stop coz I dont want us to be sad. Thank you once again. Have a nice weekend. I'll see you on Tuesday...I should have ordered a Jambon earlier today =( Cant wait to order the new sandwiches. By the way, if you need to use the coffee grinder just give me a call, Im only a few minutes away ;)

Guess what? There's a new blog on the block.

www.blogsavannah.com

You ever had that feeling that tour guides and trolleys just aren't enough? You know there has to be more in Savannah to do, to see, and to experience? What about the real news? Not the headlines but the news that often goes unreported; an opening of a cafe down the street, a small band playing at the local coffeehouse, a neighbor angry because his neighbors tree is infested with palmetto bugs. Well, that is why we have come around.

Contributed to be several people, www.blogsavannah.com, is the hub for Savannah activity and wants to bring together other bloggers by allowing them to submit their blog for free advertising (and get a fancy sidebar button in return) as well as comment through audio and text.

Enough talking though. Just go check it out. Visit www.blogsavannah.com and share it with others. Who knows? Maybe your voice is part of the voice of Savannah!

I cant believe i missed the apple cupcakes you were talking about, I was really eager to try them but I guess they sold out right away. Hope you have a great weekend. See you next week!

Cheryl - I thoroughly enjoyed your show Tuesday night with the Deen brothers. I immediately called my grandson and asked him to come over this weekend so we could make peppermint marshmallows for our holiday celebration. But.. then I went online to the Food Network website and found that the recipe is not there. I know you gave it on their air, but I was watching live at the time and did not bother to write it down. Please, please let us have it one more time. Nathan (8 yrs old) is coming after school tomorrow and will be expecting bit things from his grandma! Happy Holidays and if I ever get to Savannah, I am coming to visit! Sally, Phoenix, AZ

Hi! We live in Sav and my husband and I recently drove a new way to work, down Bull St. I saw your shop and got so excited, but I couldn't remember where I saw your shop featured. I was thinking a magazine, but now I remember seeing your segment with the Boys! I love it when someone in Savannah is featured on the Food Network! I always get a little giddy. Anyway, I finally remembered to check your site out and I cannot wait to drop in and try some lunch stuff. The Jambon, Beurre, et Fromage sounds great!

I just watched this on the Food Network so I had to look you up. I grew up in Myrtle Beach, SC but live in New Hampshire now (I'm a blogger too, but not a baker!), and I've never been to Savannah. In 2008 I'm changing that! I've heard so many great things about your city that we're coming down and we will visit your bakery for sure. I'm so happy to read this post and to "meet" you on television, let's hear it for small business exposure!!

Can't wait for your online store to open, I want to order marshmellows and red velvet cupcakes!
