I Choose JOY

The other day my two friends Charlotte
and Val stopped in as they always do
every summer when they visit Savannah
and they were telling me the funniest
story about one of their friends that
constantly repeats her mantra 'Choose Joy".
Apparently her timing is not always the
best, but it really is a great way to think
about life.

It certainly beats the alternative of choosing
sadness. As many of you know, my big sister
passed away suddenly almost 2 years ago.
We were just 4 years apart and it still
takes my breath away sometimes when
I think about how much I miss her.

My Mother always taught Natalie and I to
count our blessings no matter what life brings.
The events in my life make me realize that
tomorrow is not promised, but at the same
time I always feel Natalie and my Mom
watching over me.

Today is my Birthday & I choose JOY.
The day started with phone calls from friends
and continued with the bakery girls all dressed
in pink in honor of my special day. They all
came bearing such loving and thoughtful gifts.
I am so fortunate to have such a wonderful
and creative staff. All day friends stopped
by to wish me a Happy Birthday and it
was truly special.

Griff and I spent the evening at our favorite
restaurant Elizabeth at 37th. We have so
many special memories there and dinner was
incredible as always. I can't think of a better
way to end a perfect day.
Comments:
Oh boo! I didn't know it was your birthday!! I am marking my calendar this very moment. It sounds like it was a wonderful & bright birthday. You deserve it!! You are the best. I miss you tons.

xoxo

We were a very joyful pink army and it was such a good day being able to celebrate with you! Happiness, happiness, happiness for the coming year!

Happy Birthday, Cheryl! One good thing: You'll never lack for the best birthday cake around.

My daughter - the Mistress of Sarcasm - was very close with Natalie. I hope both of you continue to get comfort from many pleasant memories of this very special lady.

The Mistress brought me one of your brownies a few weeks ago, but she devoured it before I had a chance to even look at it. Rats!

Best to you and Griff from all of us!

Amen sister. And happy, happy birthday...

My husband and I just ate one of your cupcakes to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary, and I have not experienced such pure foodie bliss in a LONG time. Thank you for bringing joy to others!
