Designing a Wedding

It's no secret that Griff & I got married
at the bakery on the spot one day.
It was a fun & spontaneous
moment for the both of us.
But believe it or not, the control freak
in me still made a beautiful & delicious
cake for us that day. Chocolate with
Italian buttercream and I still remember
every bite. Whether you are planning
a wedding for 2 or 200, I believe you
can still make it special.

*Vintage toppers that I collect
& flowers that my sis had in a vase.

I think a wedding cake should be the best
cake you have ever tasted. Traditionally,
a grandmother or Aunt *or the best baker
in the family would make the wedding cake
and that is my philosophy even here at
the bakery. Yes you can have a delicious,
home spun cake designed especially for
the happy couple.

People often ask if I do wedding cakes.
and the answer is yes. I have to admit that
I am a firm believer in chemistry when it
comes to choosing people to help
create the wedding you have always
dreamed of and for me that goes both
ways. Every bride that I have ever worked
with always tells me that they trust
my instincts. I usually just sit down
and talk about the vision they have
for thier special day and that is where
I draw inspiration.

It is so much fun when
they come back every anniversary for
a special cake and when I get to do
birthday cakes for their children.
For some reason, I just can't say NO
when I have been a part of such a
special occasion.

Grace Bonney of the very stylish
Design Sponge contacted me earlier
this year and asked me to do her
wedding cake. It was an instant yes,
due to the fact that we had
already developed a good friendship.
Along the way, Grace was asked to
document the journey of planning
her wedding on The Martha Stewart
Weddings blog.

It's been fun hearing her ideas develop,
bouncing ideas back and forth
about her vision of their wedding cake.
I love watching creative minds in action.

Today, Grace is posting her installment
about her wedding cake and what
we are doing together.

Comments:
I am not surprised. I think that every person who is delighted by your bakery instantly feels the professionalism and emotion you pour into your mixes.

The day when I get married I would very much love for you to be my baker. And if that is not possible, I totally want cupcakes in honor of you and your yumtastic cupcakes!

the one thing about your bakery above all is the abundance of love that I felt when I walked into the door. What a beautiful outlook and a beautiful cake.

it's great to discover your blog and your wedding story! i love that the cake you made for your own wedding so completely reflects the vibe of the bakery itself - it really shows how baking can be an expressive art form.

this cake is precious, with style and character!
