The best yard sale EVER

If only I had enough notice to get to L.A.
this weekend I would have been walking up
this driveway in Malibu at Pam Anderson's huge
yard sale.
It is text book Shabby Chic & that is what I love.
Not faux Shabby but the real deal.
I am DRooling over these photos.

Can you imagine seeing the ad on Craig's list.
and hopping on the shuttle to go rummaging
here. DROooling!!

Apparently I missed quite an event.
I could have dipped my toes in the
ocean on the way out.
Look how close her house is to the
beach.
Sigh!

See Griff work

My husband is so talented.
I love to look over his shoulder when
he is working on a creative new idea.
He walked around the bakery all
week taking photos. I never really
knew what he was up to with that
camera.

He started and finished our new site in
a single sitting and I just love it.
That's when that art school training comes
in handy. Check it out!

Our little mermaid

A tiny sea siren has made her way into
my home thanks to the fabulously
talented Katie Runnels.

I have been an admirer of her work for
many years and I am so happy that this
wonderful piece found its way into our
home.

I just love everything Katie touches
and I just knew that I had to have this
wreath the moment I saw it.
She is a true original and I just love
her creative spirit. I love all of the vintage
details, pretty flowers and seashells.
She also writes a wonderful blog featuring
the work of some of her favorite artists.

Baker Returns Lost Dough

Imagine my surprise when I heard that I was
mentioned in todays local news paper
The letter to the editor in
The Savannah Morning News read

Baker returns lost dough

After a visit downtown with my family a few weeks ago, I realized I had lost three $100 bills.

I called around to a few of the places we had been, not really thinking the money would be recovered. I left my contact information on the answering machine of "Back in the Day Bakery" on Bull Street.

To my surprise, the owner called me the next morning to tell me she had found my lost bills. I was very touched by her honesty and the same week, I had the opportunity to do two good deeds myself, using the money she had returned, and did so in her honor.

I just wanted to publicly thank her and let her know her honesty inspired other acts of kindness. She is truly a blessing.

Thanks
Angi Kennedy
It was a great feeling to return the dough to you

Slow down and Taste the Sweet Life

I am such a Huge fan of artist Cedric Smith.
His work speaks to me in a way that is hard
to explain. His mixed media paintings are
simply amazing.

So when he came to deliver this wonderful piece
today, I just couldn't stop looking at it. I was
beside myself with a realization of an artist
connecting with me and my vision of our bakery.

Cedric is a gentle confident artist with a wonderful
talent and vision. His work is engaging, historic
and cutting edge with a flair of Americana.

What can I say, I am deeply honored and touched
by his generous gift of depicting Back in the Day
Bakery in this one of a kind painting.

Thank you Cedric for being a great person and
a super talent that is now a part of my life.

Check out his other work here including
a wonderful photograph of one of my
baby cakes.

Our Brandi's In

Brandi and Andrew's wedding was everything
I imagined it would be. The cd & invite to the
big day let us all know what to expect.
Brandi is a very special person to Griff and I.
Ups and downs...Brandi has been there with us.
All we wanted was to be there for her.
It seems we watched them fall in love in front of
our eyes. Since so many of our customers asked about
the special day, I will not appologize for
my loaded camera.

Dancing Shoes

Such a Happy Day for our Saturday Girl

They are such a lovely couple!

So many wonderful details from all of the collected
vintage plates and a homepun wedding cake with
all the ingredients from grandmas cupboard.

to the infamous fortune cookie
that sealed their fate.

We've all decided that Brandi should consider
a career in catering. It was a delicious evening.

It was such a beautiful affair.
Congratulations to the Happy Couple!
What a wonderful beginning.

Hen Party

Anyone who has ever visited the
bakery on a Saturday knows Brandi.
She has been the face of the front
for almost 2 years now. She does
an amazing job to make sure that
everyone has a terrific Saturday.
Last year her fiance Andrew proposed
to her right at the bakery counter.

Of course she said YES!
So this is officially Brandi's big week
and after a crazy Easter rush on
Saturday at the bakery, all the girls
got together at our new home for a
Hoe down Bridal shower. It 's a long
story, but it has to do with the male
stripper that we didn't have.

Anyhow, it turns out that I work with
a great group of cowgirls and Indians!

Thanks so much Halli for stopping
by to see my new digs and for your
helping hands.
