Hello, welcome to our FAQ (frequently asked questions) page for the bakery.
Savannah is known for its gossip, storytelling, and urban myths.
Here on our FAQ page, we will clear up a few misnomers about our bakery.

|
What kind of Bakery runs out of goodies?
This kind of Bakery does, only because we make it fresh everyday.
It's unfortunate that we have been trained by the commercial baking
industry to expect that we can get anything we want at anytime we want...
thanks to chemicals and preservative of course. We make our breads
and desserts just like you would at home with fresh, quality ingredients
in several batches daily. "Back in the Day", bakeries would close it's doors
when they sold out, but we do are very best to make as much goodies as
possible so we cansatisfy our customers, but don't give us a frown if you
come late and we are out of something your tummy was craving.
We would rather have our goodies fresh than full of industry chemicals.

Where are you ?
We hear a lot of comments like..."I can never find you"
Contrary to what some people say about not being able to find us, we
are in a building that isattached to the ground and we're not going anywhere.

What kind of bakery are you?
What is an "Artisan Bakery"...what does that mean? We use the freshest
ingredients possible in every product made at Back in the Day Bakery.
We use ingredients like real butter, eggs, milk & cream..etc - and no
premix, shortcut bakery products.
That means we do old world techniques for making bread and we make
old fashioned desserts from scratch just like your mom, or grandmother
did "Back in the Day".
|
Do you do donuts?...where are they?
No, we don't do donuts. There is a Kripsy Kreme right down the street.
They do an awesome job and you might see us there when the
HOT DONUTS sign is lit.

Can I put your cakes and other perishable items in my HOT car as I do errands?

Do you make sugar-free or low-carb cakes/desserts? Nothing is fat free, sugar-free or low-carb. With a wink of an eye, we can say to you there
are no calories and you can pretend for just a moment whilst you enjoy your treat with
guilty pleasure.

Product Information, Serving Instructions and Storage Guidelines
|
WE USE EGGS & BUTTER We use the freshest ingredients possible in every product made at Back in the Day Bakery.
We use essential ingredients like real butter, eggs, milk & cream.
Baked goods made with dairy products ensure what we make taste great.
We have to refrigerate most of our products to comply with our Department of Agriculture
regulations. We refrigerate our products for your protection and suggest following the handy
guide below to best enjoy.
|
ROOM TEMPERATURE
Serve our cakes, cupcakes and other desserts that have been refrigerated at
Room Temperature. Cold butter lacks flavor and can have an unpleasant
taste and texture if eaten cold.
Please allow our products to come to room temperature for full flavor
*Some people ask if they can leave what they just bought (cakes, cupcakes,
brownies, 'Nana pudding, dessert bars, ETC.) in their car while they "do errands".
Again we encourage you to keep you desserts that have been made with dairy
refrigerated until you are ready to serve and then bring to roomtemperature.
The heat that develops quickly inside your vehicle will cause harm to your desserts.
That's a serious crime in some states.

Our Mission
"Slow down and taste the sweet life."
We believe that good food is one of life's
pleasures and people instinctively know
when a homespun baked good hits their
tongue.
We pour a tablespoon of talent and a pinch
of our love into everything we make.
Simply said, we don't buy premix, par-baked,
or scoop it from a bucket and say we made
it...our Moms would slap us silly if we did.
So, come relax, have a cup of our house blend
coffee, a sweet treat and enjoy a moment of
pleasurable exuberance.
